Smart meter installs in East Midlands hit 1.3 million

The East Midlands region now has a cumulative count of over 1.3 million smart meter installs following the publication of January 2020’s install figures. Almost 26,000 smart meter installations occurred in the East Midlands last month, several thousand short of the East and South England regions.

Energy supplier switching exceeds 400k switches in Jan 2020

According to January 2020’s switching data published by ElectraLink today, 457,000 changes of supplier were completed last month. This is an 18.6% increase on January 2019 and is the first January since records began that has crossed the 400,000 switches completed mark. Switching activity tends to be lower early in the year, but January’s figures have set 2020 off to an impressive start.

Yorkshire exceeds 1.1 million installed smart meters in December 2019

Yorkshire now has a cumulative smart meter installation figure of 1.1mn meters, according to data from the Energy Market Data Hub (EMDH) published today. Over 16,000 smart meters were installed in Yorkshire in December 2019 to push the region over the 1.1mn mark. The total number of installs for the month was just under 200,000 for GB, with East England topping the ranks with just shy of 26,000 meters installed.

Energy customers switched suppliers 6.3 million times in 2019

Switching data from the Energy Market Data Hub (EMDH) published by ElectraLink today reveals that 526,000 customers changed energy supplier in December 2019, a 21% increase from December the year before. This brings the total number of switches completed during 2019 to 6.3mn, 9.3% more than 2018.
