40% of total renewable output no longer ‘invisible’ with launch of new energy data analytics service by ElectraLink

London, UK – 19 October 2016: ElectraLink, provider of data transfer, governance and data analytics services to the UK gas and electricity markets, has today announced the launch of its Renewable Energy Insight service removing the renewables ‘blind spot’ which until now has hidden 40% of total renewable output from view. Renewable energy sources now provide over 25% of electricity to the UK, according to the figures from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy – a four-fold increase since 2008.

Highlights from our Smart Meter Readiness Forum in September

Outlined below are some of the issues, solutions, risks and opportunities identified at the forum: Suppliers are expected to substantially ramp up their smart meter installation programmes following the ‘go-live’ at the end of 2016. At peak, the industry will need to deliver 45,000 installs a day in order to reach programme expectations. Suppliers will need to be highly effective in planning, targeting and scheduling installations and programme efficiency will be paramount as will focus on minimising cost overruns from revisits.

ElectraLink provides industry with a market data tool to support smart meter rollout as it launches its Smart Insight: Accelerator Service

The data analytics the central body provides with this service includes geographic visualisation and ‘hot spot’ identification of potentially problematic post-codes or post-code sectors, with historical data collected over a four-year period. These vital insights are being continually updated by live data generated by the market and energy suppliers, who are responsible for the roll-out programme, meter installers, and distribution network operators (DNO’s) to plan schedule and maximise the success of first-time smart meter installations, significantly reducing costs as well as negative impact on their customers.

DTS indicative pricing for January 2017

As part of its obligation to provide Data Transfer Service (DTS) users with advance notification of indicative pricing for the upcoming calendar year, ElectraLink is pleased to announce that effective from 01 January 2017 all DTS Charges (Traffic Charges, Supplier Charges and Gateway Rental Charges) will remain unchanged. This follows a series of price reductions on 01 January 2015, 01 January 2016 and again on 01 July 2016, and is in line with the expectation communicated to users on 29 September 2015 that there would be no increase in DTS charges in 2017.
