ElectraLink host: Energy Innovation 2018

  ElectraLink held its fourth Engagement Day, ‘Energy Innovation, So What Else is New?’ at The Crystal, Royal Victoria Docks, on Monday 24th September, attracting over 100 energy market participants from across the UK. Individuals from different parts of the industry came to hear short presentations from ElectraLink, David Richardson from Innovate UK and Greg Jackson from Octopus Energy. These were followed by ‘breakout sessions’ enabling audience members to ask questions, share their views, and to collaboratively discuss issues and solutions that they are impacted by as well as to debate and discuss those which are continuing to affect the energy industry more broadly.

Dataset Will Help National Grid ‘Join the Dots’

ElectraLink, the UK’s Energy Market Data Hub, is pleased to confirm it can now provide much-needed data to National Grid following the signature of a long-awaited contract between the system operator and the central body. This follows a change implemented by ElectraLink to the data access rules in its agreement with the users of the data transfer service in response to National Grid’s concerns over its ability to accurately gauge electricity demand during peak periods.

ElectraLink Introduces Third Party Intermediary Code of Practice in line with Ofgem’s latest thinking

Ofgem’s letter to BEIS requesting increased power’s to address brokers mis-selling to small businesses, and outlined in a leading Sunday broadsheet over the weekend, serves to further highlight that action is required in this currently unregulated area of the retail market. On Thursday 27 July, ElectraLink hosted a call to participants across the industry, setting out our vision for the development and launch of an industry Third Party Intermediary Code of Practice, with recommendations for its establishment by January 2019.

ElectraLink estimates that Ofgem proposes giving £2.79m in compensation to customers. We explore how energy suppliers could limit their liability… Ofgem has released a paper (https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/supplier-guaranteed-standards-performance-consultation-switching-compensation) which strives to improve customers’ experience of switching, by targeting issues Ofgem believes most impact the end customer. Two of the measures outlined in the paper involve compensation to the customer of £45 (£30 for nominating supplier and £15 for current supplier) for an Erroneous Transfer (ET) occurring and a further £15 if that ET is not resolved within 20 days.
