ElectraLink’s Staff Volunteer in Ghana

ElectraLink and its staff are involved in a number of initiatives that ‘give back’ to the community and staff have two volunteer days to spend as they wish or donate to someone else to carry out volunteer work on their behalf. Lauren Nicholls, part of our Governance Services team, returned from three rewarding weeks volunteering in Kumasi Children’s Home, Ghana. When asked to describe a day at the Children’s Home she said: “I was based in the Home Unit, which housed 45 boys and men ranging in age from a few days old to a man in his mid-forties, all with a mixture of abilities and needs.

Flexing Our Collaborative Muscles

At ElectraLink we’ve been embracing flexible working across the teams for several years. This means people can chose to work from home or the office, depending on their preferences.  They need only to come into the office for external meetings and can flex their working day around what suits them best with some starting early to avoid the morning rush and others starting later.

Where to Invest in UK Renewables

The UK energy market is experiencing a 6% annual increase in renewable generation, largely from wind and solar sites. This remarkable growth in the renewable energy market is attracting major investment, however, investors have limited visibility of accurate supply and demand, and the impact that inaccurate forecasting has on the networks can affect determination of financial risk and returns. A national picture of the generation market consisting of both generation connected to National Grid, and the ‘missing picture’ of embedded generation, together provides a complete view of what is really going on.

Network Charging

Stefan Leedham, Head of Governance Services – So, I must admit when it comes to network charging I am a bit (or probably a lot) of an anorak. Over the years I’ve been involved in the roll-out of the gas NTS charging model, set up of the gas DCMF and five-year forecasts, the gas TPCR, two GDPCRs, RIIO-GD1, RIIO-T1, RIIO-ED1, TransmiT and DCC charging to name but a few, and I have to admit I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

ElectraLink is giving back to the community through a new initiative called Care for London, whereby our staff and corporate partners collectively invest their time and resources into a cause of their choice.
