Report on Flexr webinar and live Q&A

June 18, 2020

On 20 May 2020, ElectraLink broadcasted Flexr: Unlocking the challenge of data to enable a smarter, more flexible energy system as part of the Spring Webinar Series.

The webinar included a presentation from our in-house Distribution System Operator (DSO) experts Marc Bartlett and Gill Nowell. Their presentation explained ElectraLink’s role in the transformation of the UK energy market, as well as the opportunities offered through Flexr – our new data provision and standardisation service being brought to market in partnership with the GB Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), to support the GB electricity market transition.

Flexr will enable and accelerate the GB flexibility markets and platforms by enabling market participants to register for data access to allow the discovery of triaged information about DNO resources and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). Flexr will accelerate open platform participation, ensuring secure and controlled open platform delivery.

Following the presentation, ElectraLink Chief Executive Stuart Lacey chaired the live Q&A session. For the Q&A, Gill and Marc were joined by ElectraLink’s Director of Data and Transformation, Dan Hopkinson, and Enterprise Architecture Consultant James McDonagh. Jim Cardwell, Head of Policy and Development at Northern PowerGrid – one of ElectraLink’s shareholders and partners in the delivery of Flexr – provided crucial input as a panellist voicing the DNOs’ perspectives.

Over 150 attendees from across the energy industry joined us.

We have compiled a report at the button below containing details of the webinar, along with participants’ questions and panellists’ responses which were sent to us before and during the live Q&A. This includes questions and responses broadcasted during the Q&A session, as well as those that we did not have the time to discuss.

Visit the Flexr webinar page to watch the webinar presentation and live Q&A session if you missed them.
