For the 2nd consecutive year, ElectraLink attended Utility Week Live 2019 at Birmingham NEC from 21-22 May. We occupied a prime spot on the show floor, exhibiting in the Network Area opposite the Keynote Theatre.
For the first time, the ElectraLink EnerGeniuses – our team of electricity, gas and water market experts – were available on our stand, assisting curious visitors and industry colleagues the with challenges, questions and frustrations they faced in the rapidly transforming utilities sector. Utilities market participants were also encouraged to leave their comments or suggestions for us and other market participants on our “Interactive Area”.
As well as showcasing the many problem-solving solutions and services housed on the recently unveiled Energy Market Data Hub (EMDH), we also informed industry on our progress with our bid to act as Code Manager for the Retail Energy Code (REC). (Click here to watch the team’s latest REC webinar update.)
We also debuted our Governance Services department’s Advisory Services; a portfolio of business-focused solutions that are adaptable, versatile and equipped to provide lasting, impactful efficiencies for utilities companies, supported by ElectraLink’s vast and unique data lake.
Members of our senior team also enjoyed speaking opportunities at this year’s event. Stuart Lacey, ElectraLink’s Chief Executive, was on-stage for the ‘Transitioning to a digital utility model’ panel session, giving ElectraLink’s stance on how data can be used to drive the new wave of thinking about and acting on the commercial needs and demands of utility companies in the coming years.
Dan Hopkinson, Director of Data and Transformation, introduced the Future Systems Hackathon which brought together utilities experts, sustainability pros and various forms of programming whizzes to solve problems around big data, flexible energy sources, electric vehicles and customer service.
This year’s Utility Week Live was a great opportunity to meet colleagues from across the industry and reconnect with some familiar faces. We look forward to next year’s event and connecting with more colleagues and friends.
