From October 2018 to March 2019, ElectraLink ran a pilot for a National Revenue Protection Service (NRPS). The service allows signatories to comply with their licence condition to investigate, identify, prevent and deter energy theft. It includes both field-based and desktop investigations, significantly reducing the burden and cost to energy suppliers. We have partnered with support service vendor Haste to deliver the NRPS.
We are uniquely placed to help industry reduce energy loss due to theft. In 2016, we implemented TRAS and developed the subsequent gas and electricity incentive schemes. The NRPS is our latest development to work with suppliers and help them meet license conditions and incentive scheme targets, as well as reducing extra costs from theft.
The pilot proved to be a success, running with a small selection of suppliers, processing over 200 jobs and meeting 100% of SLAs for Category A, B and C jobs. Investigations also led to locating and rectifying almost 90% of tampers.
The success of the pilot allows us to roll out an enduring end-to-end, dual fuel revenue protection process from May 2019 for smaller and challenger suppliers that provides thorough and consistent reporting and relieves resourcing pressures. The NRPS will include SMETS1 and SMETS2 solutions.
