Today is the first day of Big Energy Saving Week, a national campaign run by Citizens Advice and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to help people cut their energy bills and get all the financial support they are entitled to.
We have been working with Citizens Advice to support Big Energy Saving Week by providing them with data on switching within the UK energy market. This data has allowed Citizens Advice to identify a number of significant trends in switching and highlight their findings with UK consumers.
In 2012, in our role as a central body, ElectraLink received agreement from energy industry participants to store the data that flows across our Data Transfer Service so that we can provide analytic based services to industry participants and others interested parties (with the caveat that it must benefit consumers and the energy industry as a whole). This means we have over 6 years’ worth of market intelligence that includes every change of supplier, or switch. With all the appropriate governance in place, we can share significant trends in this data with organisations such as Citizens Advice in support of their national campaign.
For more information on the data we hold and how it can be used to benefit the energy industry, please contact [email protected]
