Peter Bashorun, SPAA Analyst, Governance Services
I started with ElectraLink on the 1st March 2018 and it has been a fascinating journey so far!
Before ElectraLink, I was in recruitment for 3.5 years, with a focus on placing commercial roles within the energy industry. I started to look in areas outside recruitment where I could grow – both in skills – and in experience. I heard on the grapevine about ElectraLink which continues to go through significant change and growth, operating centrally in the market and with a diverse set of skills and attributes.
I checked out its website and LinkedIn page in the usual way and decided to apply for a Governance Service Analyst role and was delighted when I was accepted within the SPAA code team.
Everything that I do for the Governance Services (GS) team is related to the SPAA Industry Code. I consult with energy suppliers and shippers, working together to broker positive resolutions for the industry. I attend regular SPAA related industry meetings and manage the accounts of some of the company’s key clients.
Team collaboration and wider industry liaison is absolutely essential at ElectraLink. We are encouraged to work closely with other industry codes that ElectraLink administers and supports, in areas where they may be ‘crossover’. The management teams are all approachable and ready to help resolve any questions or queries you may have.
I really value the option to work from home as well as the relaxed office environment which allows you to be sociable when you need to be. It is case of ‘find a desk’ so I have been able to get to know peers in the business, as well as the CEO.
The flexibility is so important to me and I am given a lot of autonomy, encouraged to think creatively and ‘outside the box’ and first-rate guidance alongside the right tools (I got a great laptop and phone), has been such a boost to my career.
