Data Transfer, Data Processing, Data Modelling

The core of our network services offering is the Data Transfer Service which ElectraLink provides on a regulated basis to support the efficient operation of all participants in the UK utilities sector. We also provide additional high quality data transfer, data processing and data modeling services to satisfy the requirements of our customers.

Proven data expertise

Our business focuses on providing a fast, secure and reliable data network for the sharing of data between clients in the energy utilities market. Data services are currently provided for gas and electricity companies.

Our specialist expertise includes an in-depth understanding of industry processes, managing complex change control and detailed data understanding and knowledge. And we facilitate competition by creating a level playing field.

Significant infrastructure upgrade

In preparation for the industry moving to Smart Metering, we have invested heavily in our network infrastructure and tools, significantly upgrading our capabilities and making them Smart-ready. Improvements include:

• Next generation C&W MPLS system (20 fold increase in bandwidth)
• End-to-end hardware refresh, designed for scalability
• Real-time messaging across whole network
• Dedicated bandwidth to prioritise real-time messaging
• Enhanced data flow validation, web services, search facilities

Ensuring competition, security and minimal cost

Every day, on average, our network enables more than 23,000 customers to change energy supplier. With sensitive customer data involved, we have also had no known breaches of security.

In addition, we have driven down the cost of the Data Transfer Service by 60% since 1999. Based on Ofgem figures, the Data Transfer Service for 2011 will cost industry just over 15p per meter point per annum. Or 0.0004 of the average UK electricity bill.

Fully integrated data services tailored to your needs

The list of the data flows that ElectraLink’s network currently supports is testament to our proactive and expert approach. In addition to all of the regulated data flows used by the electricity industry to enable the domestic supply market, we support:

• Gas industry flows (Retailer, Asset Providers, Metering and Gas Invoicing , NOSI, RGMA)
• DUoS eBilling
• Proprietary flows
• All with a common standard, standard interfaces

We support all of these commercial data flows with a dynamic suite of online tools to enable the audit, configuration, reporting, and re-submission of data files.
